Art Making within Groups

While art making on your own can be fulfilling, therapeutic and enhancing self-confidence, art making within a group offers some special qualities: instilling hope, interaction, universality and catharsis. Berliner Pandabären ── an intercultural and bilingual kindergarten in Prenzlauer Berg underscores its philosophy in art education through enlightened art methods.

Under art instructor guidance, children were capable to make forms and shapes to complete their project, despite it was challenging tasks.

“ I’ve made five flowers!“. A five-years-old boy replied with satisfactory. “ Here you need more glue on it, let me help you! “. Another five-years-old girl acts like teacher-assistant helping another group member. This experience of group support and sharing naturally instills hope, particularly when group members relate positive experiences of overcoming or solving problems. More important, art making within a group connects group members with each other through group projects and/or through the sharing of art made during the session.
